VOCATIONAL TRAINING


In 2021, the Trustees of the Dartington Cattle Breeding Trust embarked on a new avenue of grant funding with the following clear intention:


"To encourage continued learning to enhance career progression, health & safety and keep up to date with current government legislation"


DCBT have allocated funding to two Training Providers:



Vocational training courses are organised through the Training Providers and the administration of funding is also undertaken by them.


To be eligible for the vocational training, you must live in Devon or Cornwall.  Although the courses are administered by the Young Farmers Clubs, there is no age restriction for course attendance.


The type and number of courses available are extensive.  The Trust's priority is the livestock sector of the agricultural industry.


The following course titles are just a few of those which are suitable for funding:


  • ATV handling 
  • Cattle foot trimming
  • DIY AI
  • Grass & grazing management
  • Pesticides
  • Telescopic handler training
  • Tractor handling
  • Transport of livestock
  • Safe administration of medicines
  • Health & Safety
  • Sheep shearing
  • Lambing skills 
  • First Aid
