GRANT FUNDING


In order to satisfy the Trust's objectives, in recent years, the Trustees have awarded on average, £50,000 per year split between the following:


Educational Bursaries


Since 2004, over 250 educational bursaries have been awarded to students from Devon & Cornwall studying on courses incorporating livestock breeding, animal husbandry and welfare, attending colleges and universities all over the country.


Nuffield Farming Scholarships Trust


Since 1992, DCBT has supported 27 Nuffield Scholars.


Capital Grant Scheme


A new scheme in 2009, the Trust has supported 35 new entrant and young farmers in Devon and Cornwall.


Research


Since 1997, in association with universities, over 18 large research projects have been supported.


Devon YFC Travel Scholarships


Annually, the Trust supports three Devon YFC members to travel with the Devon YFC programme.  One place is always reserved for a Totnes YFC member and the other two places for members within the South Dartmoor YFC Group area.


Foot Health Day


A new event for 2017, following on from the success of the Cattle Lameness Conference.  This event is open to  farmers, foot trimmers,  farm managers to provide practical demonstrations and workshops on a number of aspects of cattle lameness.


Community Fund Grants


More recently, the Trust has invested in a number of ways to educate children about agriculture, food and farming.  This has been through donations to:

  • Farm & Country Discovery Days, Cornwall
  • Kingfisher Award, Cornwall
  • Farmlink, Devon & Cornwall

  • Devon YFC Rural Hub - The Amory Building


Vocational Training


New for 2021.  The Trust identified an area which needed additional support.  The Vocational Training is administered by the Training Providers detailed and is open to anyone of any age involved in agriculture who is resident in Devon or Cornwall.
